On Sunday, August 6, at 12 noon (U.S. West Coast time) in Huntington Beach, Orange County, 40 miles south of Los Angeles, a rally organized by Veterans For Peace marked the 78th anniversary of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki to remember the victims and to demand that we never have to go through such a tragedy again through nuclear disarmament. 
About 15 members also joined the LA Candlelight Vigil to stand in solidarity and picket against the ocean discharge of Fukushima nuclear wastewater. San Francisco resident Ha-Neul Park flew in early in the morning with her 17-year-old daughter Jenna to attend the vigil, saying, "I think it's a good opportunity for high school students to learn about the dangers of contaminated water from the Fukushima nuclear plant."
